Xbox 360 Console Reviews
The end of this month will mark my 1 year ownership with the xbox 360 (I have the PRO 20gig version with HDMI). There were lots of changes to xbox since I first purchased it and I’ve been very happy with Netflix and all the games offered. My friends have had RROD’s but theirs were pretty much launch units and after it was fixed for them, they haven’t had any issues.
For the past year, I have not experienced any DVD scratch problems, nor read disc error, nor RROD, nor E76 error or whatever it’s called. There was an occasional freeze for 20 seconds when NXE (the new xbox experience dashboard) first came out but it turns out to be just a lag. It hasn’t happened since that time. I play a lot of games on both my Xbox, Wii and PS3, especially anything exclusive to each. But when it’s multi-platform, I would always choose the 360 for the better frame rates in most cases (except for Street Fighter 4 because of better controls for the PS3). But another reason is also for the online gameplay experience with “party chat”.
I might have been lucky to get a very reliable unit while others keep complaining about RROD. With all my game consoles, I tend to place them in open areas where there’s little to no chance for overheat. Maybe that will help? Also try to keep them dust free (I’m again speaking for all consoles). If you can appreciate all the games it has to offer as well as Netflix instant view, it’s worth every penny you invest into it.
